The Bindery Guild
If you had a chance to change history’s path for good, would you? But who gets to decide what’s good and what’s evil?
It’s 1914 in an advanced, almost utopian world shaped by a worldwide revolution that occurred in the 1700s. Sexism and racism are nearly extinct, and Olive Benedict, an agoraphobic bookbinder from Seattle, Pacific Northwest Territory, has no idea any other world exists but her own. She bemoans her lonely, hermit-like existence despite her self-imposed indoor confinement. But after her father disappears in a supply closet and a fellow binder is found exsanguinated, a peculiar man arrives claiming to be from a secret organization called the Bindery Guild. Olive discovers her world is linked to many others by a network of dioramic books along a mysterious earth path called the ‘Ink,’ and that her father is missing. Olive is forced to engage, but in doing so, places a target on her back.
The Bindery Guild, charged with policing the Ink, informs Olive that her twin brother has likely given a shadowy figure—known as the Author—the key to manipulating other world’s histories. If true, it’s a treasonous offense, and he will face the guild’s punishment: execution. To find her father, exonerate her brother, unveil The Author, and save an unfamiliar world from a Great War, Olive will wrestle with her phobia and newfound knowledge that her family is inextricably bound to the Ink system. Ultimately, she must decide between bravely facing the light or cowering in the dark.
